Biography. Jan Jansz Wijnants (alternatively Wynants) ( – buried 23 January ) was a Dutch Golden Age painter. He was born in Haarlem, the son of a Catholic art dealer also named Jan Wijnants.[1].Jan Jansz Wijnants was a Dutch landscape painter, active first in Haarlem, then from about in Amsterdam, where he also ran an inn. He specialized in landscapes with dunes and sandy roads, inspired by the countryside around Haarlem—unpretentious, naturalistic views that were favourites with collectors in the 18th century.
